My daughter was diagnosed with lupus 5 years ago and i was 1 yr ago, her doctor told her that was impossible because lupus skips a generation and for me to have it would mean that she wouldnt have it but her daughter would, is this true? because i have a mild case and she has the kind that effects her organs and has to have kemo, mine just effects my muscles right now and its under control. if you could please email me and let me know i would appreciate it.

      
I'm afraid that your doctor is mistaken and that there are numerous case histories of lupus occuring in mothers and daughters. Lupus however, very individual in its manifestations, and there is no reason to expect that your daughter's case will develop in a similar way to your own. However, most patients experience their worst lupus flares early on in the course of the disease. If your daughter responds well to treatment over the next few years, she may be less severely affected in the long term.
