I was diagnosed with Lupus a few months ago. The last couple of days everything that I eat and even when I take my medication it feels as though everything is getting caught going down just about in the area of my breast bone. It hurts in that area anytime that I swallow anything now. Do you know of any reason for this?
Have you started treatment with steroids or methatrexate? Either of these drugs can increase the amount of stomach acid you produce. Too much stomach acid can lead to a sensation like the one you"re describing. There are some good medicines to deal with this problem (with few side effects), so ask your doctor about it. Alternatively, you can try drinking barley water or eating mint. Peppermint oil delivered directly to the lower intestine in capsule form is often an effective remedy.
