I am 22 yrs old. I have had bad skin problems and bad joint problems(mainly my lower back swelling and bruising for no reason) and in both of my pregnancies I had pre-eclampsia. I also get non contagious type of herpes on my eye, sometimes in my eye and I get these when exposed to high levels of sun and when i am very run down. In both pregnancy's I got this but in my second it was on my mouth and eye at the same time and my skin flared up even more. My skin problems were thought to be dermatitis. I have it on my face, neck, chest, hands, arms and now spreading to my legs. I am always tired. I tend to always have low iron levels no matter what suppliments I take or food i eat. I have high blood pressure. I was wondering if this could be symptoms of Lupus?
Your symptoms does not completely suggests of SLE. It will be better if you could do an ANA profile + anti dsDNA and antiRo serum tested.
ANA test is positive for more than 95% of SLE cases. ANA negative lupus is very rare , such patients have positive anti ds.DNA or anti Ro . If all the above are negative lupus can be ruled out. . But in many cases these tests get positive about one to two years after onset of symptoms. Hence testing has to be repeated, to confirmly rule out lupus.
Thank you.
