How does lupus effect the brain

A technical presentation on the effects of Lupus on the Central Nervous System can be found at the following web address: http://cerebel.com/lupus/CNScourse.ppt.

Lupus only very rarely attacks the brain. When it does, it can cause headaches, short term memory problems (sometimes leading to more substantial memory loss), dizziness and, eventually, fits and seizures. There are, however, no unique symptoms of lupus attacking the brain which can be identified without blood tests. Lupus patients who experience some of these symptoms should not panic but should consult a doctor.
